COLONIAL SETTLERS

The earliest European settlers came to homestead on Saturna in the Victorian era in the late nineteenth century  (see these display panels).  They were followed by others, particularly after the First World War, and again in the 1940’s.  Several of these families are still represented in the island population (see this link to our Archives).  There have been many interesting stories, some of provincial and some of national importance, in these years.
